A Visit to Darjeeling - By Dishita Dutta

Darjeeling is a very nice hill station with panoramic view. It is called the Queen of Hills. In winter Darjeeling blooms with beautiful seasonal hilly flowers and its lush green mountains looks beautiful dotted with timber houses.

          

During my last winter vacation, my family and I planned a trip to Darjeeling. Scenic beauty and lovely nature are my favourite and thus, I was very excited to go. It was a 5 day trip.

 

On reaching Bagdogra Airport, we hired a car to take us to the hotel at Darjeeling.  It takes three hours to reach there. After a light lunch, we set off for sightseeing.

Kanchenjunga!! As I parted the window curtains of my hotel room in the morning, there it was. The entire range was in full view. It is beautiful and majestic. The snow was dazzling in the sun. The Queen of Hills as Darjeeling is popularly called, is famous for its scenic beauty.  

 

We visited Peace Pagoda which is famous for its decorated statues and carvings of Lord Buddha. After that we visited  the Zoological Park. There we saw many unique animals. In the evening, the sun was about to set and sky was covered in orange hue.

 

Next morning we visited the famous Tiger Hill to get a glimpse of sunrise from the top. It was magnificent! Then, later we spent the whole day shopping.

 

While coming back, we were spell bound to see waterfalls and the rocks around it were covered in thick moss. We took a toy train ride while coming back. This vacation was the jeweled crown of all my experiences.
