THE LOST GOLDEN IDOL - BY AYUSHMAN ROY

Once upon a time in Bangalore, there lived a girl named Tina. Her grandfather lived in Nagpur. So she went to Nagpur to visit her grandfather during her summer vacation. Grandfather showed her a very old idol of Lord Ganesh which was made up of gold.

The next day when she woke up, she saw grandfather crying in his room. She asked grandfather. “Why are you crying Grandpa?”

Then grandfather said, “My golden idol is lost!”

Tina went back to her room and thought that she would try to solve the mystery. While eating breakfast, Tina asked her grandfather, “Grandpa, where did you keep that idol last night before sleeping?”

Grandfather said, “Well I kept my idol in the locker of my wardrobe. Today I checked my locker but I couldn’t find it.”

Tina was shocked. She went to her Grandfather’s room and checked the locker of the wardrobe.  But she couldn’t find it. She thought whether a thief or an animal stole it.

In the afternoon, her parents returned from the bazar. Tina asked her mother, “Mom, when and where did you see the idol last night?”

Her mother answered, “Well I saw the idol in the store room last night.”

“Thank you mom for telling me!” Tina said happily.

After eating lunch, Tina went to the store room.  But she still couldn’t find the idol. Then she thought that her grandfather may have forgotten where he kept his idol last night. Then she went to her grandfather’s room and checked every part of the room; the toilet, wardrobe, book shelves and so on. Finally, she saw the golden idol in one of the drawers of the bedside table.

Tina quickly went to her grandfather and showed him the idol. Then grandfather said, “Oh! As I am getting older, my memory power is slowly decreasing. I forgot that yesterday after showing you my idol, I kept it in the store room. Then your mom took the idol and kept it in the locker of my wardrobe. Then before sleeping I took the idol out of my locker and kept it in one of the drawers of the bedside table! Thank you for finding this golden idol my little girl. May god bless you.”

Then she said, “And you had forgotten that the idol was in one of the drawers of the bedside table.”

“Absolutely right!” he said.

Two days later, Tina’s summer vacation ended.  She packed her bags and went home with her parents.
